04.07.10 Linux Foundation Gains Several New Members  By Doug Caverly It's been a busy week for the Linux Foundation. The organization's gotten not one, not two, but an impressive three new members since Sunday, with a pair of them actually making yesterday quite memorable by joining then. Let's discuss the members in the order they made their moves. First came Ricoh, which deals in digital office solutions and will have someone deliver advice relevant to the OpenPrinting.org workgroup during the Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit. Next up was Parallels, a specialist in virtualization and automation software. It's sponsoring the Linux.com Technology Feature on virtualization and will send a representative to speak at the Summit, too. Finally, there's CUBRID, the provider of an open source data system. And Byungjoo Chung, CUBRID's CEO, promised in a press release, "We are looking forward to collaboration with other Linux Foundation members at events where major Linux stakeholders meet face-to-face." Hopefully this show of interest in the Linux Foundation will be sustained in the days and weeks ahead. But even if it's not, this burst has earned the Linux Foundation an unusual amount of attention, which is good.
